IRC chat
IRC chat is a light weight and robust protocol for instant messaging in groups.
It's an old and stable system that can be used in many ways: in a web browser, terminal, graphical application, etc. We have found IRC chat invaluable in online workshops as both online and local participants can communicate at the same time.
